Sir Isaac Newton attended school in Grantham, as did William Cecil, the first Lord Burghley, who became the most powerful statesman in the land during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. Today the town is renowned as the birthplace of Margaret Thatcher, Baroness of Kesteven, Britain's first woman Prime Minister.
