Bourne is an historic market town looking eastward to the flat and fertile fens and westward to the delightful wooded uplands and it has a remarkable place in history. The town began its existence as a cluster of dwellings on the Car Dyke and subsequently became a Roman station, a Saxon stronghold and the site of a Norman abbey and castle, no mean achievement in the long pageant of British history.

Bourne's previously agricultural focused industry is now giving way to other business sectors. Warners Midlands plc are major printers of magazines, having grown from a small newsagent established by their founder, the late Lorry Warner. Other businesses have been established and cover a wide range of activities including: preparation and storage of frozen foods, the preparation of pre-packed vegetables, salads and fruits, industrial laundry services, plastics moulding and many others. One activity very traditional to Bourne, the design and build of racing cars, is continued by Pilbeam Racing designs. Geest, one of Bourne's most prestigious companies has made major investment in the town to provide premises to expand its pre-packed salad business.

Bourne is a rapidly-growing market town, which serves a number of delightful villages and has a range of exciting development opportunities available for business.

Bourne is situated on the main A15 road from Peterborough to Lincoln and close to the A16, offering easy access to not only the Port of Boston which is just 30 minutes drive away, but also the East Midlands and East Anglia generally.
